ABOUT US
What is Misaeng
The word '미생' (misaeng) is defined as "an incomplete life" in Korean ("not yet" (미) "birth" (생), meaning "not yet alive"). The terminology is retrieved from the board game Baduk or also known as "Go." The game was invented in China more than 2,500 years ago and is believed and known to be the oldest board game continuously played to the present day. In the game, it is called '완생' (wansaeng) meaning "a complete life" when two complete houses are made, whereas when only one house is made and still requires effort to become wansaeng, it is called 'misaeng.' When trying to make misaeng to become wansaeng, there are risks which follow since the player cannot concentrate on other houses while trying to make one particular house to have "a complete life." Therefore, the main theme of the drama Misaeng is that "The death is near, and one has to put a fair amount of effort to live, and sometimes there is a high price he or she has to pay to achieve it."
